CD40 ligand, CD40L (also known as CD154, TRAP or gp39), is a type II transmembrane glycoprotein belonging to the TNF family.
CD40L is predominantly expressed on activated CD4+ T lymphocytes and interacts with CD40 on antigen-presenting cells to regulate both humoral and cellular immune responses.
Recombinant human CD40L (rhCD40L) is a 149 amino acid, non-glycosylated protein. The approximate molecular mass of CD40L is 16.3 kDa. CD40L is produced in Escherichia coli.
rhCD40L is used to induce its cognate signalling pathway in HEK-Blue™ CD40L cells.
