Interleukin 1 beta (IL-1β) is a secreted pro-inflammatory cytokine that participates in the generation of systemic and local responses to infection and injury. Human IL-1β is produced as a precursor (269 amino acids) that is cleaved intracellularly by the cysteine protease Caspase-1 to generate the active cytokine.
Recombinant human interleukin 1 beta (IL-1β) is a non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 153 amino acids with a molecular mass of 17000 Daltons. This recombinant cytokine is produced in Escherichia coli.
IL-1β is used to induce its cognate signalling pathway in HEK-Blue™ IL-1β cells.
